Assisted Feedback to ISTA

Safe Mediation provides an independent feedback portal for concerns related to:

  • incidents that happened during ISTA trainings or ISTA events
  • concerns involving ISTA facilitators or organisers connected to those trainings or events

The purpose of this portal is to give participants an independent place to share feedback when they prefer not to report directly to ISTA.

What Safe Mediation does

Safe Mediation receives and records the feedback you choose to share with us.

Depending on what you request, and with your consent, we may:

  • receive your feedback confidentially
  • clarify what you would like to communicate
  • pass feedback to the relevant ISTA facilitator, organiser, or governance contact
  • explore whether a facilitated communication or mediation process may be appropriate

Not every report leads to mediation or direct communication.

What Safe Mediation does not do

Safe Mediation does not manage ISTA’s accountability process.

We do not:

  • investigate allegations
  • determine whether an allegation is true or false
  • make disciplinary decisions
  • decide consequences for ISTA facilitators or organisers
  • manage ISTA governance
  • compel anyone to participate
  • guarantee accountability, acknowledgment, repair, apology, or any particular outcome

ISTA remains responsible for its own internal accountability processes and decisions.

Scope of this portal

This portal is specifically for concerns connected to ISTA trainings, ISTA events, and the conduct of facilitators or organisers in relation to those events.

For matters outside this scope, please contact ISTA directly or use another appropriate service.

Confidentiality and consent

Your message is received by Safe Mediation.

We do not share your identity or the content of your report with ISTA or another person without your consent, except where disclosure may be required by law.

If you want us to communicate your feedback to ISTA or to a particular facilitator or organiser, we will clarify with you what you consent to share before doing so.

Mediation or facilitated communication

In some situations, a person may want to explore a facilitated conversation with an ISTA facilitator or organiser.

This only happens when Safe Mediation considers the process appropriate and the relevant people are willing to participate.

Mediation is voluntary. Safe Mediation may also decide that direct communication is not appropriate in a particular situation.

Safe Mediation cannot guarantee how another person will respond or whether they will be willing or able to provide the accountability, acknowledgment, or repair you are seeking.

Independence

Safe Mediation is an independent service provider. We are not part of ISTA governance and we do not manage ISTA’s internal accountability system.

Where ISTA pays for services connected to this portal, this does not change the scope of Safe Mediation’s role or our responsibility to conduct our work independently.

About updates to this page

This portal has been available since 2022. Over time, we have refined this page to clarify the limits of our role and to reduce misunderstanding about what an Assisted Feedback or mediation process can and cannot provide.
